Materials We Use
At Yorkshire Wreaths, everything we make comes straight from nature. We believe a wreath should be more than just decoration – it should be a celebration of the countryside, handmade with love and honesty.
That’s why we only use natural, locally sourced materials, many of which come from the land around us here in Yorkshire. Each wreath is unique, shaped by the seasons and the treasures we gather from fields, hedgerows, and woodlands.
Our Key Materials
Foliage & Greenery
Fresh leaves and greenery give our wreaths their fullness and shape. Depending on the season, we use:
- Ivy for natural trailing texture
- Spruce and fir for winter fragrance
- Eucalyptus for its silvery tones and refreshing scent
- Seasonal foliage straight from Yorkshire hedgerows
These elements bring life and movement to every wreath.
Bases
Our metal bases are sturdy and don’t shed like a moss base would. They last through all weather to hold your wreath securely for as long as needed.
Flowers & Dried Elements
We love working with dried flowers and seed heads. They capture the beauty of the fields and meadows, and last beautifully indoors. Depending on the season, you’ll find:
- Dried grasses for soft, feathery texture
- Seed pods and poppy heads for rustic detail
- Wildflowers in gentle, natural colours
No two dried wreaths are the same – each tells its own story.
Fruits & Berries
For extra bursts of colour and character, we often add:
- Rosehips and hawthorn berries for their rich reds
- Dried orange slices for a festive touch
- Crab apples or sloes (when the season allows)
These details not only look beautiful but also celebrate Yorkshire’s hedgerows and harvests.
Cones & Natural Treasures
Pinecones, acorns, and twigs are some of our favourite finishing touches. Gathered from woodlands and farmland, they bring texture, structure, and a little bit of the wild into your home.
